2020-2022 Acura/Honda Weight Sensor Recall

In early February of 2024, Honda recalled more than 750,000 Honda and Acura models from the 2020-2022 years owing to a defective seat weight sensor on the front passenger side. The issue can potentially cause the airbags to deploy unexpectedly, leading to potential injuries.

The defect is due to a change in the base material for the sensor’s circuit board, which has been shown to crack and short circuit - especially when exposed to higher humidity.

2023-2024 Honda Odyssey & Acura RDX Steering Gearbox Recall

This recall was announced in late February, affecting certain Honda and Acura models produced in 2023-2024. The issue stemmed from a steering gearbox that may have been improperly tightened, resulting in water entering the system and causing corrosion/binding gears.

This issue can significantly increase the risk of accidents on the road.

2023 Honda Passport and Ridgeline Electronic Power Steering Recall

Recalled on March 14, 2024, Ridgeline and Passport models from 2023 have experienced the potential for a loss of steering control. The problem is due to the inner ball joint housing in the steering gearbox assembly, which may loosen and detach over time from the steering rack.

Abnormal noises or vibration from the steering system are telltale signs you may be experiencing this issue.

2020-2024 Honda Ridgeline Tailgate Wire Harness Recall

In May of 2024, there were more than 187,000 Honda car recalls for Ridgeline pickup models owing to a defective tailgate wire harness that has been shown to cause the backup camera to malfunction. This issue has impacted models produced between November 2019 and April 2024.

When the truck’s tailgate is repeatedly opened and closed, moisture can slowly create cracks in the wire insulation - which can eventually expand and break the wires.

Letters were sent to owners of these cars recalled by Honda in July to inform them of the safety risks. Once parts are available, they will repair the defect.

2018-2020 Honda Fit and 2019-2022 Honda HR-V Rear View Camera Display Recall

Honda recalled over 114,000 defective models in early June for issues related to the rearview camera in certain Fit and HRV models from 2019-2022. This recall impacts models that use a traditional key ignition - instead of the push-to-start button. The defect stems from a design error within the audio display power circuit, which may prevent the rearview camera from showing an image when the vehicle is started.

2024 Honda CR-V Tire Label Recall

This Honda car recall is not as mechanical as the other ones on this list. It was triggered by a mission four-digit date code on the tire’s identification number. This means the vehicle does not comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 139 - which applies to light vehicles with radial tires.

2024 Honda Prologue Control Link Recall

Announced on July 23, 2024, this is one of the smaller Honda car recalls made this year - affecting less than 40 Prologue models. The defect is traced to a suspension part which may be susceptible to fracturing, making the vehicle difficult to control.
